How much does it cost?

The following price structure applies:

€35 17th August – 31st August
When do I get my race number and chip?

You can collect your race number which contains the timing chip in it and your t-shirt at registration in St. Aloyous college on the morning of the race or the evening before at the following times:

Friday 7:00 PM 9:00 PM
Saturday 8:00 AM 10:30 AM

We would urge all people who can register on Friday evening to please make the most of the opportunity and do so as there will be over 1000 athletes in this year’s race so to help alleviate large queues on Saturday morning we are opening registration on Friday. If you cannot register on Friday please plan to arrive early on Saturday morning and get parked up and registered as quickly as you can.

Can I collect a race number and chip on behalf of a friend?


Can I enter on the day?

No. There are no entries on the day. You must sign up online before 31st August 2016

As you can appreciate there is a lead time for ordering t-shirts and medals so we need to know numbers well in advance of race day. You cannot turn up and expect to run on the day.

Can I get a refund or deferal

We are unable to provide a refund.

However you can transfer your entry to a friend or defer your entry to 2017 if you contact us at info@athlonehalfmarathon.com BEFORE Sunday 31st July 2016 with details of the change requested.

After Sunday 31st July 2016 we cannot accommodate any changes.

Is this race Athletics Association of Ireland (AAI) certified?


Can I transfer my place to another runner?

One early transfer per entry is permitted free of charge up until Sunday 31st July 2016 by contacting info@athlonehalfmarathon.com with details of the change requested.

Will there be pacers?

Yes we will have pacers for the following finishing times: 1:25, 1:30, 1:35, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00 and 2:10

What does my entry fee include?

Your entry fee includes the following:

  • entry to the half marathon
  • donation to the Irish Wheelchair Association
  • technical t-shirt
  • custom race number with name (to keep)
  • custom designed flatline finisher medal
  • timing chip
  • finishers certificate
  • pacers for 1:25, 1:30, 1:35, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00 and 2:10
  • first-aid medical services on route and at finish line
  • water bottles on route (three water stations)
  • post-race refreshments at the finish line
  • toilet facilities at registration, on route and at start/finish
  • video clip of you crossing the finish line
  • a free transfer of your entry if you cannot race (up to Friday 14th August 2015)
Will there be water stations on the course?

Yes at miles 3, 6 and 9

Are there prizes of offer?

Yes the following categories apply:

  • Senior (17-39): 1st 2nd 3rd Male and Female
  • Veterans (40+): 1st Male and Female
  • Veterans (50+): 1st Male and Female
  • Veterans (60+): 1st Male and Female
  • Course Record Male and Female
Can I enter and walk the course?

As long as you can finish within the cut-off time of 3hrs 30mins you can walk the course

How old do I have to be to take part?

You have to be 18 years of age or over on race day

Will there be a cut off time for the race?

In order to give all entrants a fair opportunity to complete the race the cut off time is set at 3.5hrs. It cannot go beyond this for safety and insurance purposes.

Can I run for a charity?

This year the flatline are donating a percentage of every entry to the Irish Wheelchair Association, so by running the flatline you are supporting charity.

However you are free to run the Athlone Half Marathon for your own nominated charity if you wish

What time will the race start?

The race starts at 11AM

However you must collect your race number before 10:30AM

Where should I wear my race number?

Pin it to the front of your t shirt that you are wearing for the race with the pins
provided at the registration desk. Take care not to bend or fold the race number as it contains your timing chip and it might get damaged.

Is there a training plan I can follow?

Yes, we have 12 week beginner, intermediate and advanced training plans to follow available to download for free on our website.

Are there T-shirts?

Yes, the legendary flatline t-shirts have become must have winter fashion items!!

We stock all sizes from extra-small (popular with the ladies) to extra large

However we cannot guarantee your size, t-shirts are given out on a first come first served basis so if you want an extra-small make sure to arrive early as they disappear fast.

Are there finishers medals?

Yes, everybody who crosses the finish line will get a medal.

Will I get an official finishing time?

Yes, our timing partner My Run Results provide both net and gross finish times
